In 1962, Humble Oil…(founded in Humble Texas in 1911)
boasted in it’s advertisements, that it could
melt the Taku Glacier in Alaska one of the world’s
deepest and most resilient ice masses.
‘This glacier has remained unmelted for centuries,
yet Humble’s petroleum energy, if converted
to heat, could melt it at a rate of 80 tons per second.’
ran one poster.
How times have changed…..or have they?
