I know I have a lot on my mind…but does that excuse yesterday’s weird carry on?
I set off early for Rothe House in Kilkenny where the Blackbird Gallery is housed on street level.
En route I stopped at Tinahely for petrol. Went in to pay and discovered my Puffer jacket (with purse in pocket)
was inside out.
Took it off to discover my puffer waistcoat was also inside out. Help!
Re clothed myself and paid.
Went to their coffee machine to get myself a coffee.
Chose the Flat White paper cup placed it for a coffee. Discovered I’d left my debit card on the counter.
Left coffee pouring and went back to the counter to collect it.
Returned to coffee machine to realise I had not
placed the cup under the nozzle and the coffee had drained away.
( No wonder a man passing looked askance at me!)
Hastily grabbed another paper cup and purposely placed it under the nozzle this time. Coffee flowed…and flowed. I had pressed Latte in my confusion and the cup was too small.
More coffee wasted as my cup floweth over.
Mortified I realised I had not paid for these disastrous coffees. Where to put coin or card ? I couldn’t see anything anywhere. Too embarrassed to ask…as I’d been in
the place for AGES by now…the woman must have wondered whaaat?
Grabbed my overfull cup of hot coffee which was spilling and scalding my hand as I reached my car…spilled more over the seat and drove off vowing to never darken that garage’s door again! Help !
ps…Had lovely time and lunch in Kilkenny with the terrific owner of the Blackbird, Valerie Walshe.
