Zehra Dogan.
The bejewelled and perfumed rich,
allow a tear to fall
When Mimi dies in poverty on stage…
….yet… Zehra Dogan languishes in jail
unknown.…Her sin…to be a woman with a voice,
who made the choice of painting
Nusaybin ….which lies in ruins.
And Zehra needs Puccini now…
She needs full orchestra…a song..
an Aria….against this tyranny…
so she might live and paint again.
So beat the drum and sound the horn
and let the bagpipes play a mournful
slow and great lament forlorn…for her.
Rise up against Dictators and their Midnight Sun…
Whose culture makes them
‘Reach Out for a Gun.’
They should be from another time
and place.
We have no use for them.
