A Walk in Barbarigo.
Serene swans sail by
Carp swim and leap.
Crazed fountains
shooting water high into the air,
speak of passing hours
with each drop that falls.
Box hedges glower down.
We sit…surrounded by
old mossy statues staring
into time.
Long vistas stretch
back through the years…
The crunching gravel paths…
lead to the looming Villa
set in stone.
The Seven Deadly Sins end here,
after the labyrinth
Armando says…. plunging into a bush
to get a key.
I am my servant now….
he sniffs.
‘And it was here,
a child saw prisms
in the sky
She cried…look Mama,
all the colours of the rainbow
shining in the light’…
But that was long ago.
After the family had fled the Plague…and,,,
Even before cold Science had found
that one out’…..said della Rose.
Two Barbary Partridge walk close by
with wondrous stripes.
They symbolise the journey
