The Staring Man (in Rodez Airport)

His jeans and eyes are blue ...his hair is grey
Brown shoes ...
He stares at me..invades my privacy
I wish his eyes would leave me be.
I want to sit alone with my own thoughts ...

Beyond the airport window is a bird of prey
Wings flapping hovering
It’s swooping now to snatch some little thing...

And still he stares at me
Is he controlling me ?
His burning face is tedious
I play his game
I beam my flinty eyes at him
Hard ... cool... I do not move..
Invading him with my distain..
Flinching..he looks away..
I have some scanty solace
From the lack of him.

I see the bird ..it’s hovering again
It soars and falls
And snatches up it’s prey
To carry it on lightest wing
Beyond the vision of my eye.

I’m waiting for my plane
To come for me.
I wish it soon
So I may leave this staring man
And Rodez airport far behind....
Be in my home for noon.
