She Wore Scarlet.
She wore deep scarlet
Queen of the City Lights
Smile painted dark upon her lips
She moved into the night.
Her subjects close behind
Dimmed in the smokey air
The chilly autumn night.
The court …a coffee house
In dark red Amsterdam
Her throne, a wooden chair
Bright rubies in her large and sparkling ring
The thunder in the air began to sing
An ode to her.
Each eye was fixed on her
But she was unavailable..
She held her cards close to her heart
For she was placed to win..…
…..and win…she smiled
Her heavy lidded eyes the guardians
Of her mind.
Green eyes…drew up the ace again.
