love jim

I heard , on the radio, the ‘baby child’ now a woman, read out a letter to her mother, from her WW2 soldier father , two days before he was killed in 1944. A very simple letter, It touched me..this is how I remember it.

Love.. Jim.

My Darling
How I love and miss you.
I see you now…
Each and every part of you..
Those violet eyes
That shine so deep into my soul
I cherish you…

And my small baby child
I’ve never seen you.
How I long to leave this hell
And hold you.

Your daddy’s far away.
He loves you.

Moma will take
Good care of you.
That comforts me.

This War will soon be over…

My lovely wife and lover.
I cannot wait to be with you
We’ll live our lives together
All will be good again.

My heart is yours
My cherished darling wife
I long for you.
Do write.

Love
Jim.
