In a Sea of Green….
I dream of Saving Elephants,
Orangutan, Giraffe.
‘Your garden with its trees and leaves
bears down too heavily.
I feel that I am drowning
in a stifling sea of green…
Cut down some trees !’
He said to me .…
And all the birds sang loudly NO.
They sang with pleading hearts.
And through the branches sunlight dropped,
on butterfly and moth.
And as the trees gift oxygen…
To all the roosting birds.
Small crafted woven nests of straw,
are cradled in their boughs.
And soon the autumn leaves float down,
to feed the hungry earth.
I weep about the Amazon
and man’s abusive heart…
So I ignored the callous pith,
Of he who said those words.
I love these trees, I love this earth….
…and all the birds burst into song,
And all the trees agreed.
