Columbinus

Beyond my door there is a sea of wonder
Swaying in a warm and sweetening breeze
The beauty is so great it hurts my senses

I know this scene is only passing
Soon it will gone as if it never was
And all that canopy that clustering
And all the effort in the making will be lost
To seed.

Columbinus...
Of the gentle doves
The five doves clinging at the stem
The outline such a pleasing sight.

Columbinus
And all the while I’d thought you were
The humble lovely Aquilegia.
But you are more than that
You are a Dovelike thing.
